The exhibition Fahrenheit 451 is inspired by the book that bears its name, and encourages us to question our way of life. 451 in degrees Fahrenheit refers to the self-ignition temperature of paper. In a world ruled by social networks and rapid consumerism where mass culture creates a hunt for the intellect, the exhibition presents only works using paper as a medium by recreating the link between the human, history, intellect and creativity.
Ana D. & Noora K. created the series apocalypse in 2021. They show through their images that the perspective and vision of things are constantly metamorphosed. This is the moment when the subject becomes abstract and allows the imagination to see an infinity of possibilities.
Denis Jutzeler uses an approach similar to that of his fellow artist and filmmaker Man Ray in his photographic work. Man Ray's words, "I don't photograph nature. I photograph my visions" can be applied to Jutzeler as he uses, with the help of the computer, the technique of superimposing images to arrive at his composition. His work process is complex and requires an immense attention to detail.
Nacoca Ko takes into consideration the differences between the organic, the human, the non-human and a possible AI consciousness. From her observations, she constructs and deconstructs new virtual worlds that can be explored through her images. The artist remains critical of the latest technological advances on cultural phenomena such as the invasion of privacy, endemic narcissism or the neglect of ethical issues posed by digital development.
In her series Presse, Catherine Rebois introduces, through her images, sentences that attempt to organize small moments of reflection, sometimes chaotic, that continue and follow each other like those we can develop in view of the world. By taking up primitive questions, this work takes into consideration a look that has difficulty in containing itself and that tries to open a possible narrative, even if uncertain, in the image of chronophotography that refers us to the human phenomenon in its evolution and here in its environment.
Artist photographer and researcher, Julien Spiewak questions the relationship of the photographic image with the human body as an artistic expression. Since 2005, he has been making the series Corps de style, in museum interiors and private collections in Switzerland and around the world. Before the shooting, the artist executes preparatory studies which are unique pieces. His most recent project was realized at the Maison de Balzac, Paris. For Fahrenheit 451 we have chosen to present Julien's original manuscripts and annotations on "Le chef d'oeuvre inconnu d'Honoré de Balzac".
