Jean-Luc Bari
Born in 1964, in Montélibard. Lives and works in Besançon.
At the very first glance, Jean-Luc Bari’s work seems to disseminate a soft post-realistic atmosphere filled with humour and made from small deviations between words and objects, the objects and the world… Very quickly on the surface and in the heart and body of the objects shows the artist’s taste for his craft. Jean-Luc Bari joins the vacuity, the profound uselessness of creating new objects and his love for the hand-crafted, the savoir-faire. This contentious encounter is the essence of his oeuvre. The artist uses surprise and texture. He juggles with the concept of hardness and softness. He offers multiple associations, most often amusing, sometimes more serious, but always playing against type. If today objects do no longer have any sense, maybe do they keep in those strange states the ability to tell us stories.
