After reading Honoré de Balzac’s Unknown Masterpiece, Julien Spiewak is stunned! Not only does everything “speak” to the photographer in this fantastic tale of Balzac, but some sentences – which he hastens to annotate – seem to have been written for him, referring as closely as possible to the images he has already made for his series of photographs Corps de style.
The exhibition "Le Chef-d'oeuvre inconnu", presents the work that Julien Spiewak realized at the House of Balzac: research, studies and photographs taken with the furniture of Balzac. You will also find an overview of his career through his images taken over the last 15 years in museums in Geneva, Paris, Monaco, Amsterdam... The inventory he draws up is precise, with one detail, the artist introduces fragments of naked bodies in his decors, bringing these places back to life.
